The Fleur de Sel from fangocur has a uniquely mild, balanced and well-rounded taste that is beyond compare. It’s a shame to use it for cooking; instead, use it as the crowning spice for pasta, fish and vegetable dishes as well as uncooked dishes like salads.
Gourmets call this rare and exquisite salt the “king of salts”. When morning mist, light wind and the power of the African sun work together, an extremely fine layer of salt crystals forms atop small salt water basins – it’s a bit like a fragile layer of ice.
The method used to harvest the salt is an ancient one. The unspoiled area where the salt is found is on the west coast of South Africa, far from industry and tourism. The climate is ideal: the secret recipe of mother nature is the cold Atlantic, warm and dry wind, and a long and hot summer. You can truly see and taste the results.
Package size: 200g (economical – a richer taste so you use less).

Pure Nature - Rich Taste
fangocur Sea Salts are 100% harvested by hand, unrefined, unbleached and unground. They are free of heavy metals as well as added ingredients like anti-caking agents, extra iodine, artificial scents or flavour enhancers. They contain naturally occurring iodine and important trace elements. The taste is more intense than that of common table salt without being too strong.
fangocur Sea Salts contain only whole and intact salt crystals.
In comparison to industrial salt production, for example as is commonly done in mountainous regions, hand harvesting is more gently by far. As our salts are both harvested and prepared by hand, the preservation of the valuable minerals and trace elements from the sea is ensured. The calcium, magnesium, potassium and of course also iodine contained in sea salt are important in cellular metabolism and the bodies internal maintenance processes.
All sea salt is not the same.
Of the almost 100 substances that natural sea water contains which are useful to the body, one a few remain present in refined sea salt. This is because such salts are harvested by machines, diluted into a solution and then dried with gas burners or electric ovens. Substances which are important in cellular metabolism like magnesium, iodine 12 and selenium are lost through processing. In contrast, the naturally harvested Sea Salts from fangocur have been found to contain over 80 of the original substances found in sea water. Just as in the sea, the natural complex connection and the proper concentration is maintained, ideally beneficial for cells and their metabolism.
As far as taste is concerned, there’s a world of difference between factory produced salts and natural salts. Anyone who’s tasted one of the Sea Salts from fangocur instantly recognises the difference.
fangocur Sea Salt, A Unique Product from Mother Nature
Nature created a salt garden in the St. Helena Bay 180km north of Cape Town; this is the source of the salts from fangocur. It is formed from a gigantic 400 year old underground salt lake which is continuously filled by the Atlantic Ocean. The sea water is filtered as the water must pass through 2km of quartz sand, limestone and clay; any heavy metals are thus naturally removed on the way to the salt garden.
