Day in day out, we spend around 50% of our lifetimes on our feet. Even so, we tend to only pay attention to our feet when we experience pain. It's About How the Feet Function

Next generation insoles function proprioceptively. This means that the insoles activate a more natural movement pattern as they contact (i.e. trigger) muscle chain points in the soles of the feet. You can think of it as helping the feet to help themselves.

In medical terms, what we're dealing with here is influencing the activity of the musculature via foot proprioception in order to normalise the posture. The soles of the feet are crucial here as in both standing and walking, they are the only part of the body to contact the ground. That's not so much surface area, yet it is the information from this small contact that informs the body how best to relate to gravity.

What problems can TriggerMoving insoles help with?

The following problems are signs of dysfunction that can be prevented and/or treated using TriggerMoving insoles:

How do TriggerMoving insoles work?

1. Proprioceptive effects
Muscle chain endpoints on the soles of the feet are activated or inhibited, resulting in proprioceptive reactions in the body structure. This means that the insoles inform the body via the feet and create muscular balance through an activating impulse for muscles too low in tone and a deactivating impulse for muscles with excessive tone.

2. Active effects
Through the intentional placement of small pads at specific places to contact the short foot musculature at the front of the foot, a directly improvement in the foot structure is encouraged. For the pushing off movement of the foot, the interlocking mechanism of the arch of the foot is supported and the form of the lateral arch, from the big toe to the 2nd through 5th toes, is lengthened.

3. Passive effects
Strain is relieved through passive changes in the boney structures and tendinous attachments of the heel and middle foot. Through the elevation of the inner border of the heal along with the elevation of the external border of the middle foot, the cushioning movement of the foot is passively encouraged and the step over the movement chain is softened.

4. Centring effects
As the insoles have non-slip upper surfaces (TriggerMoving ProSport), the foot stays centred on the sole, even with sideways or jumping movements. This is perceived by the wearer as better heel positioning; objectively, the development of callouses and blisters is minimised.

5. Dampening effects
To protect the feet from uneven surfaces and related strain, TriggerMoving Insoles are constructed with two different materials to improve their function and dampening capacity.

Some walking and running tips from a sports doctor:

  1. Start all physical activity with a bit of slow stretching to warm up.
  2. For running and walking, shorten the swing of your arms to shorten your stride, thus reducing the levering effect of your footwear. Runners and cyclists alike know that this can also occur when moving more slowly with a higher frequency.
  3. With every step, both when running and walking, the bottom of the foot should be visible from the back.
  4. When reaching forward with the leg, think of the whole body as a functional unit, wherein you can also let go of tension in the lumbar vertebrae and stabilise the knee.
