Rosacea is an inflammatory disease affecting the complexion, the cause of which is not completely understood. The onset of the skin condition is seldom before the age of 30, though it more commonly starts after the age of 40. It involves a dilation of the superficial blood vessels, causing a characteristic reddening of the skin. In certain phases of the skin disease, the sebaceous glands are also affected. This inflammation can then lead to puss filled pimples and pustules. Rosacea is in many ways similar to acne – it's sometimes even called acne rosacea or adult acne.
The areas most commonly affected by rosacea are:
- nose
- cheeks
- chin
- forehead
Those affected by rosacea are often fair complected – the skin of people of the so-called Celtic-type (red hair, light skin, prone to freckles) seems to be particularly susceptible. This is the reason that this condition is sometimes called the "Curse of the Celts".
Many people suffer with rosacea (some research suggests that as many as 10% of people are affected). It's important to emphasise that rosacea is not a contagious condition. It seems to slowly develop over years, and it varies in severity in phases. The disease is usually very noticeable, so those who suffer with the skin condition sometimes have low self-esteem.
Rosacea can be divided into the following types/phases:
Subtype 1 (erythematotelangiectatic rosacea):
Increased and lasting reddening, possibly with small red veins. This form of the skin condition is also known as Couperose.
Subtype 2 (papulopustulare rosacea):
Lasting reddening of the skin with inflammatory papules (red bumps) and pustules (pus filled red bumps). In contrast to acne, there are no blackheads (i.e. open comedones) present.
Subtype 3 (phymatous rosacea):
The skin becomes thicker. This often affects the nose in particular (rhinophyma).
Subtype 4 (oculare rosacea):
This type is localised to the eyes. The symptoms include dryness, tearing and a burning sensation as well as swelling of the eye lids.
The fango healing clay contained in the Mineral Mask from fangocur addresses the root of the problem. Using the special volcanic clay to treat rosacea brings lasting and dependable results.
The Mineral Mask from fangocur provides lasting relief from red/flushed skin. The healing clay acts to open clogged pores – this means that the skin is able to shed excessive sebum and metabolic waste products more easily. The fango healing clay contains sulphur, electrolytes and minerals which reduce the inflammation in rosacea-plagued skin. The sulphur is especially important – it's a very effective 100% natural anti-inflammatory. The effects go deep, and this allows the skin to naturally regenerate and become healthy again.
Use the Acne Mineral Soap in the morning and in the evening (before applying the Mineral Mask). This 100% natural soap is made from our volcanic healing clay and contains no chemical additives. It gently and thoroughly cleans the skin, which is so important in the effective treatment of rosacea.
For everyday skin care, you need a skin cream that is free of chemical additives and artificial ingredients as they can irritate or damage sensitive skin. The fangocur fangocur Mineral Cream N°4 meets all of these requirements. It not only soothes the skin; it additionally has both anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial effects. The Mineral Cream contains our unique fango healing clay, making it the perfect addition to your rosacea/couperose treatment plan.
The relationship between rosacea and the digestive system
In many cases digestive problems (such as those caused by the H. pylori bacteria) also play a role in the appearance of rosacea. Through use of the fangocur Mineral Drink along with the Acne Mineral Mask from fangocur, you help your body to eliminate toxins in the digestive system which would otherwise have to be processes by the skin. Bacteria such as Helicobacter pylori and other harmful micro-organisms are eliminated via the antimicrobial effect of the healing clay.
