Tennis Elbow (Epicondylitis)
Tennis Elbow – A Special Kind of Joint Injury

Help for tennis elbow – therapy and treatment using Fango Sheets from fangocur
Fango Sheets can easily be formed to the elbow

In cases of lateral epicondylitis, more commonly known as tennis elbow, there is pain at the small protrusion of the humerus bone on the outside of the elbow joint. This is the point of attachment for some of the muscles responsible for control of the wrist as well as the fingers. The pain is cause by very small tears in the tendon which binds the muscle to the bone. Pain related to tennis elbow can radiate into the forearm or upper arm.

Is there a quick and dependable way to treat tennis elbow.

Our Fango Sheets are the perfect solution for tennis elbow (epicondylitis). Our patented method for the clean application of fango clay is the ideal home remedy.

You'll also benefit from the well-known healing power of our Gossendorf fango healing clay.

They are ideal for both cold treatment during the acute stage as well as the following warm treatment – a dual-use home remedy.

The clay pack is more than just a heat therapy or cold therapy. The unique ingredients such as sulphur, electrolytes, minerals and trace elements are also very beneficial. This special volcanic healing clay is also an important part of the treatment.

The patented application method means that the clay sheet can be moulded precisely to the elbow joint. That kind of contact is simply not possible with an ice pack or hot water bottle.

As all the fangocur products are 100% natural, there are no side effects. Fango Sheets are a trusted remedy for joint problems like tennis elbow and are used in hospitals and rehabilitation centres by both physicians and physiotherapists.

How do the Fango Sheets (i.e. fangocur healing clay packs) work to treat tennis elbow?

During the acute phase of epicondylitis, the clay sheets are used cold. This promotes a reduction in inflammation and swelling. Following the acute phase of the joint condition, the Fango Sheets from fangocur are used warm. The heat therapy along with the unique ingredients of the healing clay act to increase circulation and relax the muscle tissue. The metabolism of the tissue overall is also improved, reducing or eliminating as well as preventing inflammation in the elbow joint. This promotes a return to normal function and the elimination of pain.

Is there anything special to keep in mind when using the Fango Sheets?

Simply follow the instructions found in the package. It's important to take care to apply the clay pack directly to the skin. That's something unique about our healing clay pack – shaping them is easy due to the formable nature of our Fango Sheets. The result: healing via the soothing effects of the Fango Sheets along with all the benefits of fangocur all-natural volcanic clay.

The Causes of Epicondylitis (i.e. Tennis Elbow)

The causes of tennis arm (lateral epicondylitis) are related to a strain the connective tissue of the elbow which often leads to inflammation. The condition is not only for those who play tennis or golf, rather anyone who strains the muscles of the lower arm due to excessive and/or imbalanced use. In truth more non-athletes than athletes suffer with this joint condition – the most commonly affected are those who must make repeated movements as part of their work. The condition is most common in those over 40 years of age and it affects women more frequently than men. The pain often goes away on its own, though many suffer with elbow pain for years.

How can one know if one has "tennis elbow"?

If when moving the hand upward (extending) against resistance you experience pain at the outside of the elbow joint, then you may have lateral epicondylitis (i.e. tennis elbow). Those with this joint condition often also complain of difficulty grasping objects as well as a feeling of weakness in the wrist.

What can one do to treat a tennis elbow?

  • When the tennis arm is acute, use a Fango Sheet (fango healing clay pack) to gently cool the joint. This method is superior to the use of ice as the cooling is not excessive and so the therapy can be longer in duration with becoming painful or uncomfortable. Additionally the ingredients of the healing clay aid the healing process – you effectively treat the condition in two ways at once.
  • Take care of the arm and avoid one-sided movements which might worsen the condition. After a few days you can begin with warm therapy. Heat a Fango Sheet in the oven as described in the instructions and apply the soft mouldable clay pack to the skin. Again the Fango Sheets work two ways to treat the joint condition.
  • After a warm therapy session with a Fango Sheet, very gently stretch the arm. Straighten your arm then slowly and softly rotate your lower arm in an inward direction. It can be helpful to fix your upper arm in place using your other hand so that only the forearm rotates. From this position, ever so slowly flex your wrist so that your fingers point away from your body. Hold this position for about 15 seconds, pause, then start again. Remember: only do the stretch very slowly and carefully, and use your comfort as a guide. If you experience pain when doing this exercise, stop. If you notice no pain, it's a good idea to repeat the stretching therapy a few times each day.
  • In addition to the supportive treatments you can also use an arm brace or other supportive device. This can be purchased from a medical supply store.
  • Have your sports equipment as well as your form checked by a professional or coach. If there are one-sided movements that you simply cannot avoid doing, try to make the movement smoothly and without unnecessary tension.
  • To prevent future joint problems, regularly use the fango healing clay in sheet form. It's not only an effective treatment – the Fango Sheets promote long-lasting joint health, free of pain and fully functional.

It's important to keep in mind that if properly treated, 90% of cases of lateral epicondylitis (tennis arm) can be resolved. Only rarely is surgery needed.

Avoid chronic tennis arm - use the Fango Sheets from fangocur to treat epicondylitis.

The healing effectiveness of fangocur healing clay has been confirmed by medical/balneological research conducted by the Department of Pharmacodynamics and Toxicology at the University of Graz, 1978.
